Philippine Postal Rates as of 1954
New Rates of Domestic and Foreign Air Mail
(As per Administrative Order of the Director of Posts, Philippines)
Effective July 1, 1954, the charge for domestic air mail shall be
reduced to
20 centavos (including the ordinary
postage) for every 20 grams or less.
On the same date, air mail for other countries shall be charged at
the following rates, which include the ordinary postage, for every
15 grams or less:

AIR LETTER SHEETS
Air Letter Sheets printed with 50-centavo stamp may be accepted for
transmission to countries for which the air mail fee is fixed in the
foregoing schedule is P0.70 or less.
Air Letter Sheets printed with 20-centavo or 30-centavo stamp may be
sent to the same countries provided the postage prepaid thereon is
raised to P0.50, or to the regular air mail fee if less than P0.50,
by means of additional stamps affixed to them. Hence, a 20-centavo
sheet may be sent to Hongkong without additional stamp, or to Japan
by the addition of stamps amounting to P0.10, or to either the Unted
States or Great Britain by the addition of P0.30 or P0.50 worth of
stamps, as the case may be.
AIR PARCEL POSTS
The charges for air parcel post, which include the ordinary postage,
transit charges and terminal fees shall be as follows:

As the foregoing rates for ordinary air mail and air parcels include
all necessary charges, it should be seen to it that the ordinary
postage, transit charges, and terminal fees are not collected in
addition to them.
The limit of weight for domestic air mail being 5 kilos only,
provincial post offices shall not accept air parcels for other
countries weighing more than 5 kilos. In Manila, heavier air
parcels may be accepted up to the maximum weight limit for surface
parcel posts to the country of destination.
