2006 Year of the Dog
The Chinese animal signs are a 12-year cycle used for dating the year. They
represent a cyclical concept of time, rather than the western linear
concept. The Chinese Lunar Calendar is based on the cycles of the
month, and is constructed in a different fashion than the western
solar calendar. It is the longest chronological record in history,
dating from 2600 B.C., when Emperor Huang Ti introduced the first
cycle of the zodiac.
The Chinese Lunar Calendar names each of the twelve years after an animal.
Legend has it that Buddha summoned all the animals to come to him
before he departed from earth. Only twelve came to bid him farewell
and as a reward he named a year after each one in the order they
arrived.
The Chinese believe the animal ruling the year in which a person is born
has a profound influence on personality, saying: "This is the animal
that hides in your heart." So depending on your particular year of
birth, you may be a rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, snake, horse,
sheep, monkey, rooster, dog or pig.
Year 2006 is the year of the Dog. Among the zodiac animal, Dog individuals
are the most humanitarian. A person born in the year of the Dog is
honest, intelligent and straightforward. He has a deep sense of
loyalty and a passion for justice and fair play.
Born with an innate sense of decency and a need for equilibrium in a
chaotic world, he strongly denounce injustice and wrongdoing. His
warmth, empathy and genuine interest in others win him many close
friendships.
November is the month of the dog individual. His time is from 7:00 PM to
8:59 PM. His direction of orientation is west-northwest and his
color is light yellow.
