Due to the late printing of the INC stamp folders, the 3rd printing of the stamps will not be released until May 11;  this will also give the Philatelic Section enough time to prepare the FDCs that will go into the folders, which are already pre-ordered.  The FDC canceller was changed to show May 11 instead of May 7, as previously announced. 

Late breaking news on the INC issue ......

 

 

It has now been confirmed that a third issue of the Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ) stamps will be released on May 7.  The third issue is similar to the first issue of April 23, with "2010" on the left side, except the text "Pilipinas", "P7", and "2010" are now in black instead of brown.  Again, 100,000 pieces will be issued of the stamps, as well as 3,000 FDC envelopes with black inscriptions instead of blue (1st issue) or brown (2nd issue).  Also, 1,500 stamp folders will be issued with revised technical details on back cover where quantities and issue dates for each of the three printings are listed.

 

Sad to say, none of the regional post offices of Philpost were sent the first printing, and only a few got some of the second printing.  The new stamp reservations received, from INC members and from the regional offices, are believed to have exceeded the quantities printed.

 

Could there be a fourth printing?

The issue that keeps on giving and giving and giving ……..

Will there be a third or fourth issue?

   

On April 23, 2010, the Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost) issued stamps for Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) in honor of its recently departed leader, Eṝano G.  Manalo.  100,000 pieces of P7 stamps portraying Manalo as its Executive Minister with the INC Central Office in the background were issued.    Philpost also printed 1,400 FDC envelopes and 1,050 stamp folders. 

The issue was so popular that it was declared sold out even before midday of April 23.  Stamps, FDCs and stamp folders were snatched up by members of INC so quickly that an additional 2,000 FDCs and 100 stamp folders were printed.

What to do?  The clamor was so strong Philpost decided to do a second printing.  Since official announcement was for 100,000 stamps only, the second printing was made slightly different.  The year “2010” is no longer on the left side; instead, it now appears on the right side, below “2010”.  FDC envelopes were also printed with the text in in brown instead of blue, to differentiate them from the first printing.  The quantity issued is 100,000 for the stamps;  likewise, 1,400 FDC envelopes and 400 stamp folders were printed.  The second printing was issued April 28.

Alas, the second printing also sold out.  Orders from different provinces and regions are still pouring in and rumor has it that a third printing was ordered, to be issued first week of May.  How will Philpost differentiate the 3rd printing? 

Local collectors are wondering why not enough quantity of the second printing were issued considering the clamor for the said stamps was felt right from the very beginning.

Iglesia ni Cristo or Church of Christ, was founded in 1914 by Felix Manalo in the Philippines.  In a country where the majority of its people are Catholics, the INC flourished due to the dedication of the Manalo family.   Membership has become so big at such a short period of time that it has become so powerful, courted by politicians.
