CHRISTMAS 2013 - Original Paintings by members of AMFPA

The AMFPA (Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists) of the Philippines, located in Quezon City, Philippines,   https://www.facebook.com/amfpa.ph  is a member of The Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists of the World (AMFPA).

Founded in Liechtenstein in 1956, it is a commercial group of publishing houses that employs artists, who, for reasons of illness, accident or congenital disability have no use of their hands, and who use either their mouth or feet to create their work.   The main product of the company is Christmas cards with motifs painted by the member artists. These cards are sold every year in the months leading up to Christmas via direct mailing in 46 countries around the world.  Products available through AMFPA include postcards, art prints and calendars.  The parent company in Liechtenstein acquires the reproduction rights of a given artwork and distributes it internationally. The original works are also sold at exhibitions held throughout the world.

The AMFPA represents 800 mouth and foot painting artists in 70 countries around the world. They receive grants or are taken on as members and receive a regular income for their artistic proficiency. Works produced by the members can be seen in the UN Headquarters in Geneva or the European Council in Strasbourg.

Works by the following Filipino artists were chosen for the 2013 Christmas stamps and souvenir sheets issued by the Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost):

JOVY SASUTONA was born on October 7, 1963. He lost the use of his hands after a diving accident. From there on, he learned to write and paint with his mouth and was encouraged by Amado Dulnuan to join AMFPA.  For the 50th year celebration of AMFPA in Vienna, Austria last April 30, 2007, he won the 1st prize for his impromptu painting entitled "Golden Years" during the art competition between the international mouth and foot painting artists.

AMADO BINUAG DULNUAN was born on May 3, 1957 without arms. Being born without arms has not deferred him from finishing his studies.  He has won many prizes for his works including a 1st prize for creativity in London. He is a foot painter, married with two children.

JOHN ROLAND FERUELO was born June 23, 1965. He met a near-fatal accident on March 5, 1989 in a diving activity which left him quadriplegic since. He was referred by the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation to apply with AMFPA.
