PHILIPPINE RIVERS - ISSUED DURING GREEN & WILD EXPO 2019

Early Philippine civilizations have depended upon rivers for sustenance, sanitation, and transportation. Today, rivers are still vital features of a locale. Though not all communities are dependent on rivers as much as they were thousands of years ago, people today still rely on rivers for the same purposes then.

The Bayabas River is located in the municipality of Dona Remedios Trinidad in Bulacan. It supplies fresh water to the communities neighboring it.

The Baroro River stretches from San Gabriel, to Bacnotan, La Union, and is abundant with mangroves on its riverbanks. On the Baroro River stamp is a view of its blue-green tourmaline waters.

Cantingas River in San Fernando, Romblon.  Winning the title as the cleanest inland body of water in the Philippines for three years in a row, the Cantingas River Resort has crystal clear water. Due to strong currents on the higher parts of the river, it is the supplier of the islands hydroelectric power plant that supplies electricity in the whole Sibuyan Island, Romblon. The river has a three-level diving platforms, 10 feet being the highest. The small waterfalls are quite strong, while the bed rock is uneven due to smooth river stones that can easily shift due to currents..

The Enchanted River in Hinatuan, Surigaodel Sur’s  is known to be a mystical river and is a famous tourist spot.

Rivers are natural resources. Maintaining them sustainably benefits the locales they course through economically and ecologically. Natural resources like these rivers can sustain communities if well-managed.
